A small practice, on purpose.

Moltera is one engineer. That is a real constraint and it is worth stating plainly rather than hiding behind a plural.

What that means

The person you talk to is the person who does the work. Nothing is estimated by someone who will not have to build it, and nothing is handed to a junior after the contract is signed.

The limit is capacity. A small number of engagements run at once, which is why the work is scoped tightly and why staff augmentation is not on offer — it is the one shape where this arrangement has nothing to add.

The founder

Maurice Ueberschaer. Most of the recent work has been on systems where language models are load-bearing rather than decorative — tool layers, agent execution, the architecture that decides whether an AI feature survives its first year.

The engineering papers in writing stand in for a CV: they describe production systems, including the parts that were wrong first.

Why Estonia

The practice is registered in Estonia, which is a sensible home for a digital-first company with clients in several countries and no fixed office. Work happens across Europe and Southeast Asia. In practice this matters to clients in exactly two ways: invoicing is straightforward inside the EU, and time zones are negotiable.

Products

Quillsmith is a writing system for authors, and the place where the architecture we recommend to clients — one tool registry, one admission point, every surface a rendering of that pair — is run at full scale first. A second project, on generative rendering, is research. Products are not a side business — they are how the recommendations get tested before anyone is billed for them.
